Dr Tom Iseley from the Trenchless Technology Center (TTC) at Louisiana Tech University (LA Tech) has just announced that they will be hosting its 4th Auger Boring School from 25th to 29th October 2021. For the second time, TTC will be partnering with the Construction Engineering and Management Department at Purdue University. This event is of particular significance as it will mark the first official use of the BERT (Barbera Education, Research & Training) Facility which is located at LA Tech’s campus in Ruston. This facility, which recognises the contributions of Leo and Jim Barbera to the trenchless industry in its name, is an outstanding resource for the trenchless community and will look to guide the international industry into the future through education, collaboration, manufacturing and R&D.
This 5-day School has been developed to provide attendees with the knowledge and background needed to understand the important components of Auger Boring (AB) operations which are so essential in delivering successful project outcomes. In addition to the classroom lectures, practical sessions will also be held where participants will be offered hands-on experience with the AB equipment. The AB School will be instructed by the foremost experts in the country and covers all aspects of an AB project from design to construction and with a particular focus on safety.
