Training tomorrow’s experts

SAERTEX multiCom’s commitment to training to ensure supply of technical expertise

SAERTEX multiCom’s commitment to training is helping to ensure that there is an adequate supply of technical expertise to meet both current and future infrastructure needs and to deliver it with minimal disruption and high-quality results.

To address the need for skilled professionals, GRP pipe manufacturer SAERTEX multiCom has focused on providing advanced training for both its employees and external specialists by establishing its own training centre, the SAERTEX multiCampus. In partnership with local company S1E Ltd, SAERTEX multiCom held the first SAERTEX-LINER installation training programme in the UK this year, providing participants with a comprehensive course on trenchless pipe rehabilitation using SAERTEX-LINERS.

The success of any trenchless pipe rehabilitation company depends largely on its qualified specialists. Without them, operational and commercial success is hard to achieve.

However, as the recruitment of suitable personnel currently cannot always be relied upon, shortages do occur. These vacancies can affect a company’s overall productivity and ultimately have a negative financial impact. Companies are therefore challenged to act and implement measures within their organisations. Flexible working hours, working from home, and other benefits are made available to increase a company’s attractiveness as an employer. Whilst these measures can improve the chances of finding employees, they do not ensure that these individuals are sufficiently qualified or skilled.

SAERTEX multiCom and S1E have therefore decided to actively tackle the shortage of specialists themselves. Chris Watson, Technical Sales UK & Ireland at SAERTEX multiCom, points out: “Our training programme is designed to provide participants with exactly the theoretical and practical knowledge they need to successfully master the challenges on construction sites. Only with qualified specialists can the sector successfully carry out urgently needed work on dilapidated pipes and our underground infrastructure.”

In close cooperation, SAERTEX multiCom and S1E delivered the first SAERTEX-LINER® Installation Training session at the S1E Head Office in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. During the two-day installation training course, participants learned more about the products and technologies required for trenchless pipe rehabilitation with the SAERTEX-LINER®. This included practical installation training, theoretical expert knowledge, and certification from SAERTEX multiCom, making them certified installers.

These certificates are proof of quality, as installers can use them to demonstrate their expertise in the UV-CIPP process. Dave McCarthy, CIPP Lining Development Manager at S1E, emphasises: “Our training programmes are qualifying professionals while helping to raise the quality standards of UV-CIPP installations across the UK. By investing in skills development, we are creating a strong foundation for the future of trenchless pipe rehabilitation.”

SAERTEX multiCom invites companies and specialists to join the next SAERTEX-LINER® Installation Training in Spring 2025 at S1E. Equip your team with the skills needed to thrive in this critical industry. Please get in contact with SAERTEX multiCom or S1E if you are interested.
