At these times, who doesn’t dream of enjoying some winter sun on Narbonne’s long, sandy beach and enjoying the city of art and history in the evening? Just head southward and turn off the A9 near Narbonne, and it won’t be long before you’re enjoying the wonderful countryside and tranquil spots between the Mediterranean and the Clape massif in the Narbonnaise en Méditerranée Regional Natural Park.
Of course, your journey there will be more relaxed if there aren’t any traffic jams or major diversions. This is what our longstanding customer Subterra ensured during the late October vacation on precisely this stretch of the A9 close to Narbonne. An AMCO pipe, which was over 50 years old, had become corroded and had to be rehabilitated as quickly as possible. Subterra won the contract for this exceptional project to renovate the 113-meter-long section of the existing DN1600 using the trenchless method and a GRP liner. It opted for an Alphaliner 1800 with a wall thickness of 16.3 mm and a total weight of 18.8 metric tons.
The GRP liner was drawn in promptly following the professional insertion of the preliner. REE4000 UV-equipment – one of Subterra’s three REE UV-systems – was used for the installation alongside rental equipment matched perfectly to the task in hand: an L4 DN1600 segmented packer and a Power Cube 6 x 2,000-4,000 W suitable for DN1200 – DN1900. Using the UV-technology tailored precisely to the GRP liner, Subterra’s highly trained personnel achieved a high level of quality and, of course, a time saving – not to mention greater flexibility and value for money – impressing once again the end customer and everyone else accompanying us on site.
And this is exactly what we’ll be committing to for next year as well: upgrades, optimizations, thorough training for our users, the complete package from a single source and ongoing user support – so we can offer our customers all over the world increased quality, flexibility and value for money and always be one step ahead.
